Mesmerizing M-16 Material

Just by reading the title triggers your adrenaline? Yeahh... all the same goes to each and everyone of us when news leaks out. We'll be shooting on the 18-20 february. There goes the normal routine procedures, us being dividing into groups for pre-shooting lessons (theory la means) to shotting pals (8 in a group) to bus ridings. We got all excited.... and checked the schedule posted on the buletin board. Ah, what a shame! We don't get to hold the gun for 3 days... just a day. Starting off with Alpha and Bravo company first, we did theory with those martials.... while Charlie and Delta had their kenegaraan classes as usual. (Oh, did i ever mention there we're divided into 4 companies- alpha, bravo, charlie and delta. Therefore suppose to faithfully stick to our companies for all activities. I proudly announce myself as a Bravo-ian)

So monday morning- pre-shooting lessons! We had some talk about how the gun works, it's physical theory, in-builts and history. Which we're suppose to jot down notes or at least pay attention or else i think the martial would ask us run the whole 'padang kawad'. Cause' when we barely knew him he made us ran back to our dorms to get notebooks and pens in 2 minutes. Which was quite impossible with the heavy gigantic spike boot and the distance of the dorms from our lesson station.

After those foreign theory is all being forced into our brain somehow, we're given a 30 minutes time-out. Tuning back, we're gotta experience holding the gun ^.^ how to aim and the right way to lie on grounds

M-16's left on the table while we're all off for a break. I tried holding it....indeed a weighty material

Practical lessons...

See the yellow board there..? We're suppose to lie on those ponchos holding the gun and try aiming for bullseye! But no shotting lah...

Just so tempted to take this shoot up close :)

Now the martial demonstrates the right way of lying. Whether you're a lefty or righty determines your lying position

A bit sexist though, but he requested for the guys to try it out first while the girls watch closely and suntan ourselves a bit also ler

It's finally the girls turn :D With the lady martial guiding. Wondering where are the guys? Well, they've decided to wait for us under the shades. Feel that in ns those guys seem weaker than girls... they visit the medic frequently and can't stand sun =.=

From left, me with my compatible friends peihann and aising and likei my dorm mate..

Another day just passed like that.... Bringing tuesday along. Excitement whispers fills the whole hall when the teacher announced the time we should leave for the shooting site. Waking up at 3 in the morning and take-off at 4.30 am. Excited as we are, but once we reached the bus took our places everyone started to doze again. We stopped at some 'surau' for the muslims to pray at 6 then continue our journey. Never had it crossed my mind that from kuala kubu bharu to banting was that far! It took us almost 2 hours plus..

At 7.30am we finally arrived at the Banting shooting site... still 2 buses have yet to arrive.

Tranquility.... a quite place surrounded by mountains and trees. You could almost hear insects sing their orchestra.

We lined up and make sure non is missing from our groups. We then sang the national anthem and

Another demonstration. This time with real shootings... incredibly loud bangs were heard as many as 20 times and with mountains surrounding the area you can imagine the feedbacks of the bangs! And then the smell of smoke... caused by the bullets

Then it's our turn... Alpha company goes first. Leaving the Bravo's all nervous with stomachs doing twist and turns. At the same time playing in our minds are thoughts of how foolishly will we shoot and miss the targets and end up with embarrassingly low marks. This is our shooting competition.. with 20 bullets each. After a long never seem to end wait... it's now

my turn... was really nervous i admit :P

Walking in lines into the site to our respective places was even nerve racking.. Looking at the 'pengasuh's' serious face made things worse.

I was wrong... they were actually friendly people. I did eventually liked my 'pangasuh'. She's so funny and cute. Here's why...

I walked in and stood there with a blank mind. Next thing i knew she was pointing at me and said "eh, sama!" Blurr as i normally am i blurted out a "harh?!" And she pointed at her braces.. haha.. then she turn to the left pulling me along and showed her friend. The friend's reaction was "wah.. kembar lah!" We just look at each other a second and burst into laughter. And i had thought that they're extremely serious people some more.

Putting on ear muff's and walking towards the blue thing... and lie on it. While we adjust ourselves to a comfy position, our 'pengasuh' will load the gadget for us. So all we have to do is apply some force to the 'picu ' M-16 :)

And aim hard lah of course.. The priceless experience? Everyone keeps on repeating that you'll get bruises after the shot cause of the explosion + gun weight. But no, if you hold it the right way the blue-black spots won't pay a visit. Before i was ready, i heard someone bullet left for the aim chart. It was really loud...! So i took a deep breath, aimed really hard, hold my breath and let loose my first bullet. (It's not advisable to breath when you shoot, might miss the aim) How surprise am i when all i heard was the mechanism of the bullet moving out of the gun i was holding and not the loud bang...

So i had 20 shots and all the fun was over. Results announced. I had 1-19-0. Which means 81/ 100 ^.^ (First number x5, second x4 and the last x3)

After everyone's done, the martials unload every gun thus preparing to keep them and pick every empty bullet remnants. While we form lines to 'berikrar' than we did not keep any of the empty bullets with us and if we do, tindakan keras akan diambil...

We're the Bravo 'hua ren' taking a group shot just before our shooting game starts

Zarina, my pengasuh and me. We actually didn't plan for this.. it was the whole gang of guy soldiers who suggested we should take a picture together. Since both also wearing braces...

Melissa, cg. Hanif and me (our beloved character building teacher who loves taking shots)

Another shot with cg. Yati, also our character building teacher. Nice and straight forward teacher..

This round with cg. Ayim who perasan he 'leng chai'... was melissa's kenegaraan class teacher.

This is the kind of something that would never leave my memory banks unless i lost my memory by accident. Chances don't just appear.. and now i somehow understand why the 'jurulatih' there always say we're the chosen ones, the lucky ones. (which most of us consider ourselves 'malang' to be picked for this training) But looking from the experience angle, things are way different. There's always a reason behind everything. Hmmm.. if and only if i can play shooting again.... yea right, bullets very cheap la now!
